Mrs. Nelson has been teaching at Hamlin Robinson for 18 years. Her son attended Hamlin Robinson School for three years, and she was drawn to teaching here by the creative capacity of the students and their ability to learn. At Hamlin Robinson School, she enjoys being part of a caring community which is committed to the best interests of its students. In the classroom, Mrs. Nelson focuses on finding areas of strength within each student to reinforce, and providing structured support for more challenging areas. She provides clear, consistent expectations for work and behavior, and uses positive collaboration within the class community to reinforce each student’s progress. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Nelson is the President of the Washington Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (WABIDA), where she has served on the board for 4 years. She holds an MA in Education, and a number of teaching endorsements, including Special Education. She also holds certifications in Slingerland and Montessori teaching methods. |
