Application Procedure

Hamlin Robinson School accepts applications for admission and regularly admits qualified students throughout the school year. Students wishing to apply for admission to Hamlin Robinson School must be previously identified or in process of assessment for specific language disability or dyslexia.

Parents should complete the following steps:

  1. Meet with the Admissions Director or Head of School to discuss the student
  2. Submit a completed application form, answering all the items as fully as possible.

  3. Submit copies of at least one of the following evaluation criteria:

    1. A current psycho-educational diagnostic evaluation on the student. This data should include: assessment of intelligence and academic achievement data.
    2. A Speech and Language Evaluation
    3. A Slingerland Screening

  4. Submit the previous year's report card.

  5. Submit any other information pertinent to assessing the applicant's educational needs, such as previous standardized testing, current Individual Education Plan (IEP), and/or other school records.

  6. Request a recommendation from teacher or tutor who currently works with the student. Recommendation Forms should be returned to the school in the envelope provided.

  7. Complete and return the Request for Records form.

  8. A non-refundable $75.00 application fee should be included with the above information.

Upon receipt of the above information, these forms and records will be reviewed. Prospective students will then be asked to visit a Hamlin Robinson School (HRS) classroom. The visit includes participation in class activities, as appropriate, including lunch and recess. The school's caring, nurturing environment makes the visit comfortable for the prospective student.

Teachers and administrators will then determine the appropriateness of the HRS program for meeting the applicant's needs. This will be based on a review of data, records, and the student visit. If the school has space and it is decided that HRS could meet the educational needs of the applicant, an offer for admission will be made. Should classes be full, the student will be placed on a waiting list for the next available space. Enrollment will be confirmed by the issuance of a Contract for Services.

Hamlin Robinson School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
