Parent Programs

Parent Club
All parents are members of the Parent Club, which is an integral part of Hamlin Robinson School and not a separate organization. A Parent Steering Committee consists of HRS parents, the HRS Director, the Business Manager and the Development Director. As a team, the steering committee plans the parent education nights and organizes hospitality, new parent sponsors, volunteer efforts and community service activities.

Integrating new parents into the school community is an especially important role of the Parent Club. Each year, approximately one-fourth of the school is made up of new students, so we are continually welcoming these new families. Fellow parents are the best individuals to provide this essential transition connection.

Ambassador Family Sponsors are a new addition to the Parent Club. Current HRS parents volunteer to "sponsor" new families by welcoming them with a phone call and answering any questions regarding the transition into HRS.

Parent Education Nights are structured to provide resources and information about dyslexia, the Slingerland and Hamlin Robinson School program, and related topics.

A Parent Club Library, located in the front office of the school, holds information about dyslexia, attentional disorders, parenting skills, and other topics of interest. Parents are encouraged to check out print, audio and video materials at their convenience.

Other related news articles, International Dyslexia Association publications, and dyslexia resource information is also available in the Development Office.

Parent Club Fundraising
As an important organization of the school, the HRS Parent Club sponsors the annual benefit auction and supports several community service activities throughout the year. The auction provides vital funds for a portion of the 20% of the school budget not covered by tuition. In addition, Parent Club is involved with several community service programs, enabling students to gain experience in the act of giving to others.

Specific information on volunteer opportunities can be found by seeing the listings in the Giving section of this website.
