Math Workshops

These workshops are designed to be both fun and educational. Through exploration, games, and expert instruction, your child will build on their understanding of core math skills and concepts. All workshops are available both in the morning and afternoon. 

9:00 AM - 12 Noon, July 9 - Aug 1
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, July 9 - Aug 1
for students entering grades 1-7

Addition and Subtraction (July 9 - 13) 

Your child will build on their understanding of the base ten number system, place value, and what it means to add and subtract.  Students will experiment with measuring length using various objects.  This workshop will help students develop their understanding that mathematics involves solving problems and talking about what they did to solve those problems.  

Multiplication (July 16-20)

Your child will build on their understanding of the meaning of multiplication.  Students will practice their multiplication facts and explore various strategies used in multiplication.  Using mental math and estimation, students will solve problems that call for using multiplication.  Multiplication of whole numbers is a basic skill central to understanding many topics in mathematics across the grades.  

Division (July 23-27)

Your child will build on their understanding of division and how it relates to multiplication.  Students will practice their division facts and how to use division to solve a variety of problems.  Students will build their math vocabulary as they work with various operations to see how division works.

Fractions (July 30 - August 3)

You child will build on their understanding of fractions and how they are used.  Students will deepen their understanding by comparing and ordering fractionsn and representing them in various ways.  With a solid understanding of fractions as numbers, students will have a foundation to be successful with the challenging skills of learning how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions.
