Slingerland® Teacher Training
Teachers are drawn to the Slingerland® Approach because it brings meaning and structure to the teaching of reading and writing. Many teachers report this course provides more information, strategies, and tools for effective instruction than any undergraduate program.
Slingerland® Short Classes focus on specific components of the comprehensive training. The Slingerland® Approach provides practical tools for teachers, parents, or paraprofessionals who work with students needing a multisensory approach to learning.
Slingerland® Short Classes are typically held throughout the year and should resume in-person during the 2022-23 school year.
These 12.5-hour classes are typically held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Fridays and from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays. Clock hours or Continuing Education hours are available.
Participants can register for these classes online, as they are made available. All classes require a minimum of eight participants.
All 2022 Slingerland® Summer Courses are scheduled for 8:00 am to 3:00 pm weekdays, from July 1 to July 29 (no class July 4). Training sessions include a hands-on teaching practicum. Classes cover:
Phonics and word recognition
Basic writing skills
Oral language skills
Participants learn how to prepare and deliver structured reading and writing lessons using the Slingerland® Approach so that the visual, auditory and kinesthetic-tactile pathways are engaged simultaneously to enhance student academic performance. The Slingerland® Approach is a highly effective instructional method to make core curriculum accessible to all students.
Each course level costs $3,075. If you will be using Title I funding to register, please contact Edward Alvarran.
I wish I had done this [course] years ago...I feel this is one of the most beneficial training courses that I have taken.
The training is very intensive, and I highly recommend this summer program. Any reading teacher would benefit.Wendy
