HRS will host a 30-minute virtual information session on Tuesday, June 17, at 5:00pm, covering program structure and logistics for both Slingerland classes and summer camps. For families interested in carpooling, we will host breakout groups by neighborhood after the main information session so parents/guardians can connect. (You must attend the virtual session live to connect with carpool families - HRS cannot share geographic information post-event.)

HRS will send the Zoom link to all registered families. A post-event recording will be made available.

Please follow the directions for Drop-Off and Pick-Up below. Parents can drop off students per the instructions listed.

When campers arrive, they will be directed to the Lower School Commons, where staff will check them in.

When students arrive on the first day of Slingerland class, they will be directed to the Lower School gym for a brief assembly. Teachers will introduce themselves, greet and gather students, then walk the students (only) to their classroom.  

At that time, family members are invited to the Lower School Commons for the Slingerland Information Session from 9:15-10:15am. 

Please follow drop-off procedures if you are not parking or staying for the Slingerland Information Session. If you are accompanying your student into the building and/or staying for the Slingerland Information Session, please park in an area NOT designated on the map as a drop-off route. 

Family members are invited to attend an in-person Slingerland Information Session on Monday, July 7, immediately after student drop-off. The session will take place in the HRS Lower School Commons from 9:15-10:15am.  

This session is optional. If you are attending, please do not park in designated drop-off zones. Neighborhood street parking is available. No registration is necessary. This event will not be recorded.

What might a general education classroom feel like for a student with dyslexia? Join us to find out at our Walk in the Shoes workshop on Thursday, July 17 from 6:30pm-8:00pm.  

During this interactive workshop, participants will engage in hands-on activities that simulate the challenges and frustrations that students with learning differences might experience in a traditional school setting. Whether you are dyslexic yourself or supporting a student with a learning difference, this event will forever change the way you understand your student's school experience. 

• Separate registration is required for each attendee, and space is limited. 
• This event is recommended for family members age 12+.
• We do not recommend this event for students who are currently enrolled in HRS Summer Academy.
• Because this event is limited to families of HRS Summer Academy students, you will be asked to provide the name of your student's classroom teacher or camp instructor in order to register.

On Wednesday, July 30, parents/guardians (adults only, please) are invited to attend a Slingerland class observation, followed by a Q&A session with HRS administration. Both events are optional.   

Please follow normal drop-off procedures if you are not staying for the Slingerland observation session.  

If you are attending this session, please park in an area NOT designated on the map as a drop-off route. (Please refer to the Drop-Off Map on this webpage.) You can then accompany your student to the classroom at 9:00am to observe a portion of the Slingerland lesson, which will last until approximately 10:20am.  

After the class observation time, parents/guardians will be dismissed to the Lower School Commons for a presentation and Q&A session with HRS administration. All events will conclude in time for parents/guardians to return to cars for regular noon pick-up of students not staying for afternoon camp. 

Teacher observation forms for each student will be given to parents/guardians at the conclusion of the classroom observation. Forms will be mailed to anyone not attending the morning events.

You may escort a reluctant student to the front office via the school’s main entrance, where staff will assist.  Street parking in the neighborhood is available.

• Please approach the drop-off/pick-up line by heading north on Valentine Pl. S. Students will be dismissed from this location.  

• Do not turn left onto Valentine Pl. from Massachusetts St.  

• Move as far forward in the line as possible before stopping to unload your car.  

• For safety, students should exit the vehicle only on the passenger/sidewalk side.  

• Please stay in your vehicle during drop-off/pick-up.

• Do not use neighbor driveways to turn around or do U-turns at any time.

• 8:45am for Slingerland Class and morning camps
• 12:50pm for afternoon camps

Pick-Up Times:

• 12:00 noon for Slingerland Class
  • All students should be picked up no later than 12:15pm. Late fees will be assessed, per the student enrollment agreement.  
• 4:00pm for camps
  • Any students not picked up by 4:15pm will be automatically enrolled in After Care and charged the daily rate.   

Before Care is available to students attending Slingerland classes or full-day Camps on a weekly basis, from 7:30am- 9:00am. If you wish to add Before Care to your HRS Summer Academy experience, please register here. Parents are encouraged to pack a student breakfast/snack.

Students registered for Before Care should enter the Lower School front entrance on 20th Ave S. Parents are permitted to park in loading zones at this time. 

After Care is available to students attending camps on a weekly basis, ending at 5:30pm. If you wish to add After Care to your HRS Summer Academy experience, please register here.

If your student will be absent from the program on a particular day, arriving late, or leaving early, please notify the HRS Front Office at frontoffice@hamlinrobinson.org and the Summer Academy team at hrssummeracademy@hamlinrobinson.org.

• Students do not need to bring any classroom supplies. All classroom supplies will be provided. 

• For students attending morning only, please pack healthy snacks and a water bottle each day.   

• For students attending afternoon only, please pack healthy snacks and a water bottle each day.

• For students attending a full day of class and camp, please also pack a healthy lunch.  

• Outdoor recess will be provided to all students, so clothing and footwear should allow for comfortable movement. No flip-flops please! 

• Please consider applying sunscreen at home or sending it with the student. Students will be responsible for applying their own sunscreen.

Students who are attending a full day of camp will be directed to the lunch commons for a supervised lunch. Please pack a healthy lunch for your student, along with a water bottle or beverage container. Hot lunch is not available for purchase.

Thank you for providing specific health, allergies, and medication information to Hamlin Robinson School during your HRS Summer Academy registration process.  

HRS requires that families complete a medication authorization form for prescription and/or over-the-counter medications. All medications must be in the original pharmacy or manufacturer's container. The label must include the student's name, name of medication, dosage and mode of administration, expiration date and name of physician.

All medication will be kept in a secure place in the school’s front office. All medications shall be given to school personnel and not kept in the possession of the student. The administration of any dose of medication will be recorded on a log sheet.
