Welcome to Middle School at Hamlin Robinson School!

Middle school is a remarkable time of growth and transformation. Students are learning more about the world around them, navigating increasingly complex relationships, and developing a stronger sense of who they are.

At HRS, we approach these years with intention. Our Middle School program focuses on three important areas: identity and community, academic skills, and self-advocacy. Each year builds on the one before it.

In 6th Grade, students assume greater responsibility as they adjust to multiple teachers, classrooms, and expectations. With explicit instruction, consistent routines, and support, they strengthen organization, executive functioning, and independence.

In 7th Grade, students deepen their identity and relationships. They take greater ownership of their learning, navigate changing social dynamics, and develop a stronger understanding of themselves as individuals and learners.

By 8th Grade, the focus shifts toward self-awareness, leadership, and self-advocacy. Students better understand how they learn, the tools and accommodations that support them, and how to advocate for what they need as they prepare for high school.

Across all three years, students develop more than academic skills. Purposeful practice builds competence, competence builds confidence, and confidence develops into self-efficacy—the belief in their ability to take on challenges, navigate obstacles, and reach their goals.

Our goal is not simply to prepare students for high school. We want students to leave HRS prepared for life—knowing who they are as learners, what they need to be successful, and how to advocate for themselves wherever they go next.
